Perched over 1,000 feet above sea level in the foothills of
the Gran Sasso Range, this vineyard's chalky clay soils, along with the strong
diurnal temperature change, help the grapes to develop complexity and balance. Trebbiano
grows on spur pruned cordon trained vines planted on hillsides with a
southeastern exposure to receive the maximum benefit of sunlight and warmth in
this alpine climate. The grapes are picked in September. The wine is fermented
and racked in stainless steel tanks using natural, indigenous yeasts. Most of
the wine is matures on its lees for two to three months, and a small portion of
the blend is comes from barrel aged wine of the previous vintage.
Bright lemon in color with fresh floral, stone and citrus
fruit aromas beneath which lies a subtle intensity of stoney minerality and
toasty creaminess that carries well into the wine’s finish. This is the ideal summertime
aperitif wine. Enjoy cool with plates of avocado wrapped in salty prosciutto
and roasted tomato and ricotta crostini.
